QRDERS

A menu that needs no app, no download and no diner account

The fastest way to lose a hungry guest is to ask them to install something. The second fastest is to ask them to make an account before they can read what you sell.

It is a web page, and that is the whole trick

The code opens a page in the browser the guest already has. No install, no store, no permissions dialogue and no cookie wall standing between a guest and a menu. A guest who has just sat down can be reading in about a second.

No account to create, and none to abandon

There is no sign-up, no email confirmation and no password. A guest can browse, filter, order and pay without ever telling us who they are, which is also why there is nothing for them to be locked out of on the next visit.

No CAPTCHA in front of the menu

A puzzle asking a guest to identify traffic lights before they can look at your drinks list is a real thing that real products do. Scanning and ordering is the product, so nothing is allowed to sit in front of it.

Less of the guest's data collected, by design

An anonymous order needs an order, not an identity. Collecting nothing is both the fastest experience and the smallest obligation, and it means a guest is not handing their details to a business they are visiting once.

Where this stops working
  • Because there is no account, a guest who wants their order history on a different phone will not find it. That is the trade, and it is deliberate.
  • Loyalty and memberships do ask for something — an email or a phone number — because a stamp card has to belong to somebody. Ordinary ordering never does.
