A free QR menu for a food truck: change it before the queue does

Everything else in hospitality changes its menu once a season. A food truck changes its menu four times an hour, because the bread ran out, or the truck is parked at the market today and the school tomorrow, or the thing you had on yesterday is finished.

A printed list cannot follow that. The one on the window is wrong by lunchtime every day.

What does the customer read at the window?

A code on the window, one on the counter for the queue, one on the A-board by the kerb. They scan it with the phone they are already holding, the menu opens, and they read it before they reach the window.

No app, no account, no typing. A customer on a phone with four per cent battery and a queue behind them is the exact person a menu should be readable by.

Can customers read the menu in their own language?

We translate your menu into 82 languages automatically, and each customer reads it in the language their own phone is set to. A market, a festival and a university car park each bring a different set of languages, and you do not need a different list for each of them.

You keep one list and change it once. When the last of something runs out, it comes off in every language at once.

Local names and dishes with names of their own are the lines to check once by hand. Correct them, and your correction stays the next time the menu is republished.

What belongs on a truck menu?

  • What you have today, in the order you would say it. Photographs, taken in daylight at the window, do more than a description ever will.
  • The price of each, and the price of the combination that most people ask for.
  • How long it takes, because a customer in a queue is doing arithmetic about their own lunch.
  • Allergens, on everything that carries one: gluten in the bread and the batter, dairy in the sauce, nuts, egg, soy, shellfish. Your customer can filter the list by allergen and read what is left, which is also the fastest way to answer the question you get asked at the window ten times an hour.
  • Vegan and vegetarian, marked on the item, not only in a sentence at the bottom.
  • Where you are today and when you are back. A customer who cannot find you again will not try twice.

Nothing is capped: as many photographs and short videos on your items as you like, and as many edits in a morning as the morning needs.

Can you change it from the cab?

This is the part a truck does better than any restaurant, and it is the part that used to need a printer.

  1. Photograph the list you already have, on paper or on an old screen. The AI reads the items, the prices and the descriptions and builds the menu with images.
  2. Cross things off as they run out. Take the item off, and it leaves every language at the same moment.
  3. Write the day's special in one sentence. The AI Editor changes every line that matches, shows you what it will do, and saves nothing until you approve it.
  4. Set where you are and when you are back, on the same list. Customers who found you this morning can find you next Friday.

The code on the window never moves, because every code points at a link you control. Your list can be a different one every day of the season without anyone touching the glass.

What about the screen inside the cab?

A screen in the cab or on the serving side runs the same menu. Set the hours for each part of the day and it changes on its own, on your clock. On a truck parked in the sun it is also the thing a passing customer reads before they stop, so keep the hours on it honest.

What does it cost?

No monthly fee, and nothing is metered. A truck that does two thousand covers on a Friday and stands in an empty car park on Tuesday costs the same.

The free plan includes the menu, the translations, every QR code, unlimited photographs and videos, your own web page where Google can find you, and menu analytics that show what sells, at what hour and in which language. On a truck that is the difference between parking where your customers are and parking where you hoped they would be.

Plus is one yearly price. It adds sharper photographs and video with their sound, your logo when someone shares your page, and a higher place on the map when a customer looks for somewhere nearby. It also keeps the AI Editor available at your busiest moments, which on a truck is exactly when it matters. The current price is on the pricing page, and it is optional.

What should you check before you settle on one?

The language count on the front of a box does not mean the same thing in every app: one counts the languages in its buttons, another counts only what its most expensive plan includes. We read what four other apps say about their own translation on their own sites in what a QR menu app's language number actually means, and our head-to-head pages and per-country comparisons are on the compare page.

Mistoqsijiet frekwenti

What should a food truck put on its QR menu?

What you have today, what it costs, how long it takes, and the allergens on everything that carries one. A menu that still lists the special from yesterday is worse than no menu, because the customer read it ten minutes ago.

Can a food truck change its menu while it is parked?

Yes. You change it on the phone in the cab, it is live on the customer's phone the next time they look at it, and the code on the window never moves. There is nothing to reprint and no monthly fee.

How much does a QR menu cost a food truck?

The free plan has no monthly fee and nothing is metered, so a full Friday night and a rained-off Tuesday cost the same. Plus is one yearly price, and it is optional.
