QR code menu for Australian restaurants (2026): QRDERS vs Square
If you run a restaurant, cafe or bar in Australia and want a menu behind a QR code, Square is one of the names you will meet. It sells a complete point-of-sale system, and a QR code menu is one part of it. QRDERS sells only the menu part. We compared the two using what Square publishes on its own Australian site. We make QRDERS, so we have an interest in the result. That is why the source and the date are visible and you can check every line yourself.

Where is Square better?
- Square runs the whole restaurant. The same account covers the till, card processing, kitchen screens, staff rotas, stock and an offline mode. If you want one system for service, Square does far more than a menu.
- It gives you menu templates. Square offers a set of free menu templates you can customise, which helps if you have no designer and want a printed card as well.
- It puts a QR code on each service area. You can assign codes to different areas and let guests enter their area, so the code fits a room with several zones. QRDERS gives you one code per position.
QRDERS is narrower: a free menu for a local business that every guest can read in their own language, with no monthly fee and no scan limit. The menu your guests open carries no adverts and no QRDERS watermark.
What should you check before choosing?
Ask each service the same questions. Does the free plan have a time limit or a limit on dishes? Is translation included in the free plan, or only in a paid one? Does the guest menu show adverts or the provider's name? What happens to the printed QR code when you change a price? Can you export your menu if you leave?
